Why was my online payment declined?

Check the booking status, card details, bank controls, and any temporary authorization.

An online payment can be declined because of card details, available funds, bank controls, currency settings, or checkout verification. First check whether a booking was created before trying again.

1. Check for a booking

Look for a booking number, confirmation email, and voucher. If you have a booking number, check Manage Booking before making another payment attempt.

Do not assume a decline message means that no reservation or authorization exists.

2. Check the payment details

Confirm the:

  • Card number

  • Expiration date

  • Security code

  • Billing name

  • Billing address

  • Amount and currency

Make sure the details match the bank's records.

3. Ask the bank about the decline

Ask whether the bank blocked the merchant, transaction type, amount, or currency. Confirm that the card supports the online transaction and has enough available credit or eligible funds.

The bank can explain its own decline, but it cannot confirm whether Airport Van Rental created a booking.

4. Retry carefully

After checking the information, retry once using a stable connection. Avoid several rapid attempts because they can create multiple pending authorizations or duplicate bookings.

Before using a different card, check your email and Manage Booking again.

Pending amounts after a failed attempt

A bank may show a temporary authorization even when the booking was not completed. A temporary authorization is not necessarily a settled charge, and the bank controls when it stops appearing.

Contact Airport Van Rental if you see more than one completed charge or have a booking number without a confirmation.

Online acceptance does not confirm pickup acceptance

The card rules at the rental desk are separate. Some Airport Van Rental screens call the rental company the supplier. Before pickup, use the selected offer's Rental Policies and latest voucher to check the rental company's card requirements. After pickup, the signed rental-company agreement controls rental-company charges.

Protect your card information

Share only the last four digits when support needs to identify a transaction. Never send the full card number or security code by email or chat.
