What is the rental agreement, and what should I check before signing?

Know what to review before signing the rental company’s agreement and what to do if it differs from your booking.

The rental agreement is the contract between you and the rental company at pickup. Do not sign until the names, vehicle, dates, locations, charges, selected extras, and return rules are correct and you understand them.

Your Airport Van Rental confirmation or voucher records the booking. It is not the rental company’s signed agreement.

Each rental company sets its own operating rules and may be called the supplier on Airport Van Rental screens. Check its Rental Policies before booking, the latest voucher before pickup, and the agreement before you sign.

Which document controls?

  • Before booking: Review the selected offer and its Rental Policies.

  • Before pickup: Review the latest Airport Van Rental confirmation and voucher.

  • At and after pickup: The signed rental-company agreement controls the vehicle’s use and return.

A Help Center article does not replace those documents.

What to check before signing

Review each item with the counter representative:

  • Main driver and every approved additional driver

  • Vehicle category and any substitution

  • Pickup and return dates, times, and locations

  • Rental rate, taxes, fees, and amount due locally

  • Deposit or card authorization

  • Fuel or charging rule and mileage limit

  • Permitted driving area and one-way or cross-border approval

  • Optional extras and counter products you accepted or declined

  • Return, after-hours, breakdown, accident, and roadside instructions

  • Vehicle condition report and existing damage

Ask for a complete copy after signing and keep it available during the rental.

If the agreement differs from your voucher

  1. Pause before signing.

  2. Show the rental company the latest voucher and identify the exact difference.

  3. Ask the representative to correct the agreement or explain the change in writing.

  4. Review any revised charge, vehicle, deposit, extra, or return condition.

  5. If the booking record still appears wrong, contact Airport Van Rental before leaving the counter when practical.

Do not sign or initial an optional item you did not choose or a term you do not understand.

After pickup, contact the rental company for an agreement change. Airport Van Rental cannot change the rental company’s signed agreement.

RentalCover documents are separate from both the booking voucher and rental agreement. RentalCover must interpret its own policy.
