Are optional extras guaranteed, and when do I pay for them?

Learn how to check the availability, confirmation, and price of an optional extra.

Optional extras are not universally guaranteed. Treat an extra as confirmed only when your booking documents list it as confirmed, and verify essential, accessibility-related, or safety-related equipment with the rental company before travel. Payment timing depends on the extra, rental company, and location.

Check the rules for your rental company: Each rental company sets its own requirements. Before booking, open Rental Policies for the selected offer. After booking, check the latest voucher. After pickup, follow the signed rental agreement. Some Airport Van Rental screens call the rental company the supplier.

Examples of optional extras

Depending on the rental company and location, extras may include:

  • Child seats

  • Additional drivers

  • Navigation, Wi-Fi, or toll products

  • Snow equipment or roof racks

  • Fuel or charging options

  • Roadside products

  • Accessibility equipment

An item shown during booking may be a request rather than a confirmed reservation.

Check the status before travel

  1. Review the offer to see whether the extra is included, optional, or payable locally.

  2. After confirmation, check whether the voucher lists the extra as confirmed, requested, prepaid, or due at pickup.

  3. Contact the rental company before travel when the item is safety-critical, accessibility-related, or essential to the trip.

  4. At pickup, confirm the item and price before signing the rental agreement.

When you may pay

The checkout or voucher should show whether an extra is included in an online amount or payable to the rental company. A locally supplied extra may have a separate price or local tax, and it may affect other rental requirements. Ask the rental company for the full local amount before accepting it.

Review the rental agreement at pickup

Make sure every accepted extra, price, rental period, and return condition is written on the rental company agreement. Ask the rental company to remove anything you did not request or accept before signing.

If a confirmed extra is unavailable

Ask the rental company whether it has a suitable alternative and request written confirmation of what was unavailable. Do not use equipment that appears unsafe or unsuitable.

Contact Airport Van Rental if the rental company's record does not match your confirmed voucher. The rental company remains responsible for on-site availability and the condition of locally supplied equipment.
