Can I use a debit card, prepaid card, virtual card, mobile wallet, or someone else’s card?

Use one of these payment methods only when the exact offer expressly allows it.

Only if the Rental Policies for your exact offer expressly allow that payment method and you meet every stated condition. Do not rely on a general payment statement or on the fact that a card worked during online checkout.

Check the rules for your rental company: Each rental company sets its own requirements. Before booking, open Rental Policies for the selected offer. After booking, check the latest voucher. After pickup, follow the signed rental agreement. Some Airport Van Rental screens call the rental company the supplier.

Debit cards

Example only. Read Financial Policy in the supplier rules attached to your selected offer.

Accepted payment methods, authorization amounts, deposit rules, and cardholder requirements vary by rental company and offer.

Debit-card acceptance can differ by rental company, location, vehicle, renter, and offer. When debit cards are allowed, the written rules may require additional identification, proof of travel, eligible funds, a deposit, a credit check, or a limited vehicle category.

If the policy does not clearly allow your debit card, do not assume it will be accepted.

Prepaid cards, virtual cards, and mobile wallets

These payment methods may not support the rental company's security-deposit authorization or physical-card checks. Treat them as unsupported at pickup unless the exact written policy clearly says otherwise.

Someone else's card

Rental companies may require the pickup card to be in the main driver's legal name. A spouse, employer, passenger, or person who paid online may not be able to provide the card on the driver's behalf.

Do not assume that adding the cardholder as an additional driver changes the rule. Check the written policy.

More than one card

A rental company may or may not allow the rental balance and deposit to be split between cards. Rely only on a rule confirmed for the exact booking.

Check the authoritative sources

On the selected offer, scroll to Rental Policies and open Rental Car Supplier's Policies and Rules.

Example only. Rental company rules and offer details vary. Read the policies attached to your selected offer.

  1. Before booking, read the selected offer's Rental Policies.

  2. After confirmation, review the voucher.

  3. If anything is unclear, contact the rental company using the voucher details and request written confirmation before travel.

  4. At pickup, read the rental company agreement before signing.

Before pickup, the Rental Policies and voucher are authoritative. After pickup, the signed rental-company agreement controls the rental and rental company charges.

If the Rental Policies are blank or inconsistent, contact Airport Van Rental before booking and do not assume that the payment method will be accepted.
