Before driving away in an electric vehicle, confirm how to charge it, what equipment is included, the required return level, and whom to call if the vehicle cannot be charged or driven safely.
Check the rules for your rental company: Charging, range, equipment, roadside help, and return-level rules vary. Before booking, open Rental Policies for the selected offer. After booking, check the latest voucher. After pickup, follow the signed rental agreement. Some Airport Van Rental screens call the rental company the supplier.
At pickup
Ask the rental company to show you:
The connector type and charging-port operation
Every cable, adapter, charging card, or other item supplied with the vehicle
How to start and stop a charging session
The dashboard range and battery information
The required battery level at return
The approved roadside or emergency contact process
Photograph the battery level, odometer, existing damage, and all supplied charging equipment. Ask the rental company to correct any mismatch in the signed rental agreement before you leave.
Plan charging early
Available range can change with speed, weather, elevation, vehicle load, climate control, and traffic. Plan the next suitable charging stop before the battery is low.
Confirm whether you may use a rental company charging card or app, which networks or connectors are compatible, and who is responsible for charging or idle charges. Do not assume these terms are included in the booking price.
Before return
Check the required return charge in the signed rental agreement.
Allow enough time for the charging session and the drive to the return location.
Return every cable, adapter, and charging card provided at pickup.
Photograph the final battery level, odometer, equipment, and parked vehicle.
Keep charging and return receipts.
Low battery, charging failure, damage, or a warning light
Move to a safe location and contact the rental company. Do not use an incompatible charger, dismantle equipment, arrange towing, or authorize repairs without the rental company’s direction.
Never add fuel or fluids to an electric vehicle unless the rental company specifically instructs you to do so. If you connect the wrong equipment or see a serious warning, stop using the vehicle and call the rental company.
